About the author

Carol Babineaux has always loved stories about love. She hails from the southwest desert now but has fond memories of the snowy holidays of her Ohio childhood, so she blended her memories and her passions together into her debut novel in the Pinewood Corners Sweet Romance series. Carol has enjoyed a long career in administration and has a diploma in Integrative Healing and Hypnotherapy from the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. When she isn’t writing, she can be found in yoga class, reading, cooking, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. Carol lives in Arizona with her husband and a gaggle of cats.

Cute throwbacks and sentiment add flavor to the small town vibe. The main characters don't really like each other at first. When they end up having to work together, they slowly warm up to each other and start seeing each other in a different light. The ending was sweet.

Thinly veiled references to culinary celebs were quite nice!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2023From beginning to end, Michael and Michaela's romantic Christmas tale captivates, holding your interest until the very last page. It's nearly impossible to set the book aside before experiencing the entire intriguing story. The sentiment, "That’s where the real kitchen magic lies, in our hearts and memories," imparts a touching depth to the narrative. A particularly charming element is Grandma's story about passing down a beloved cookie recipe from mother to daughter. The tradition of each woman adding a new ingredient to enhance the recipe not only preserves family core traditions but also beautifully evolves with each new generation. Infused with the delightful aroma of cookies and an abundance of love, this feel-good story offers a heartwarming and satisfying read.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2023I read this book in one sitting! Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes and Mikki & Michael's journey was super sweet. I especially loved Grandma Jo, who is supportive and wise and loves Mikki exactly where she is in life. This was a great little book, perfect to escape from it all for a while. Just be prepared for all the cookie content, which will definitely make you crave Christmas cookies!
