- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2023Our heroine is new to the force and eager to prove herself. Her first case will certainly provide that opportunity, but it might also force her to reveal more about herself than she truly wants. Is there a way to balance the two, or does she need to make a difficult choice?
This is book one of the series, so no issues there.
This is an urban fantasy series. The story is well written and easy to read with a well developed setting that is fun to explore. The characters are also solid and well done. Our heroine is tough and smart, which is just the way I like them. The plot moves along at a good clip and includes a nice mix of action and intrigue. Overall, this was a great story and I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Highly recommended.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2021Rookie detective Ezri Trenton and her partner Jacquie DeWitt set out to solve a set of murders that seem to defy logic and any interconnections. Ezri, a witch from birth but keeping a low profile to protect her secret, soon determines that magic is a component of the mystery, and is compelled to seek help from sources and friends she has abandoned a decade ago after the murder of her mother and the reluctance of help from the ruling witch hierarchy.
The story moves along at a captivating pace and the reader is drawn into Ezri's compelling dilemma
of both the murders and her destiny, primarily to fulfill her preordained designation as the "Savior" for good over evil.
I enjoyed the story and the characters but also I found the climax lacking contentedness to my satisfaction. Stating that I am looking forward to the next installment of the series and Ezri's continued mystic battle against dark magic and the evil at hand.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2024This was extremely enjoyable to me. It moved fast and kept me enthralled and it still boggles my mind that this all takes place over only a ten day period. It doesn't seem possible that that could be. Really great start to a series that has piqued my interest. Can't wait to see what's next. To the author, Thanks for the amazing ride! Way cool!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2022After reading the synopsis I was really looking forward to reading this book. I am not sure if I hyped it up so much that I let myself down but I found the book to be a bit blasé. The details were not impressively laid out and the storyline didn’t draw me into the story. That said the characters were good but needed fleshed out and some of the background information seems to make little connection with the story. Ezri could be a lot more than she is and I have hopes that the second book will have all those amazing, unique details that bring a story to life. I can see how this could be a really magical, suspenseful and captivating series. I truly hope book two will bring this interesting story to life.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2020I give Spring's Calling: (A Seasons of Magic Urban Fantasy Novel) by Sarah Biglow, 5 stars.
Urban Fantasy is my favorite genre so I was really looking forward to this book. I didn't recall reading this author before, so I had no idea what to expect. The beginning of it was interesting, but I want more. I wanted to see Ezri have people on her side to help her. You can see that she has depended on just herself for so long and everyone needs at least one person they can go to. When more people got involved in helping her and she started letting those people in, that's when the book went to phenomenal. Not only doe she have to find the bad guy, she has to be the savior to the magical world.
This book has just what you want in an Urban Fantasy book -- a strong female lead, magic, suspense, laughter, tears, love, heartbreak; and it is all woven into a story that pulls you in from the very beginning and you cannot stop until you are finished. I was so ready to read the next book, but I have to wait because it's not out yet! That's ok, this book is so good, I will not forget this characters any time soon.
If you are a of urban fantasy, this book is for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2023as Ezri finds herself on her first big murder case, she is reaching out and reaching in

- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2020This story was amazing. It mixed magic, mystery, suspense and the unknown together to deliver a story that drew me in from the beginning. Ezri is an amazing person trying to live her life and do her job in the final days before an ancient prophecy is set to occur without any help from the people who should have been there for her. I liked how everything is slowly laid out as Ezri works to put everything together and solve her murder case and deal with the return of her family, friends, and the Authority. It was well written and kept me reading to see if I could guess what was going on before Ezri does. I loved all the players and characters and Ezri really grew on me with her personality and trying to do be the best cop she can be.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2023I really liked Ezri. She has such a history seems like she should be a wreck. But she is a detective. This story has a lot of action and a lot of character development. Overall it is well crafted. I highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Double double toil and trouble
Woops wrong story. Someone has to save the world guess it's Ezri. This is a very nicely done paranormal doomsday story. It's also a story about coming to realize that things aren't always what they seem. The story kept me interested the whole way through with its characters, action, storyline. While the story isn't YA per say it sometimes felt like it was a coming of age story. This isn't a bad thing just an observation base on my interpretation. Definitely worth your time to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fast paced race against time with magic at its heart.
Ezri Trenton is a young woman, she is a Detective with the local law enforcement, but she is also a witch, but she has to keep these two sides of herself separate, no matter how much she wishes it could be different, however, she hasn’t had the easiest start to life, when she walked into her house, saw her murdered mother on the floor in front of her and at the time it was just too much for her to bear, now she uses it to fuel her career. Meanwhile, in the background there are the undercurrents of another facet to her magical life, this is the fact that she is destined to take part in a prophecy on the Vernal Equinox, but the when are where are vague and so she just has to build herself up so that she can be ready when the time comes.
Fast forward to today and she has just been assigned a new partner, a mundane, or person without magic and they pretty much immediately get a call out to a homicide, however, this isn’t any homicide, it reeks of magic and dark magic at that, but she has to keep the information to herself because of the secrecy surrounding her life at all times. As the investigation intensifies and more victims are found, Ezri knows that mundane police work isn’t going to cut it and is finding it more and more difficult not to use her magical skills in front of her partner, or how to explain when she has to and appears just to zone out from time to time.
While all of this is going on, the past comes calling as Ezri tries to solver her mothers murder while working though the evidence which is pointing the finger to the darkest of dark magic, she is also quickly coming to terms with the fact that it is this Equinox which the prophecy was talking about and she only has a few days to stop it. Will Ezri be able to solve both cases in time, or will time run out before she has the chance? This is a fast paced and addictive urban fantasy chock full of spells, action and adventure as Ezri races against time while dealing with past and present in one big jumble of emotions, revelations and magic.

4.0 out of 5 stars when magic is not enough
Ezra is a very special person. She is the saviour but her own magic will not be enough to save the world. She is going to have to accept help from the people she believed allowed her mother to be murdered.
But all is not that clear cut, and her own life and the future of life hangs in the balance

4.0 out of 5 stars An intriguing urban fantasy!
4 Stars
Spring’s Calling is the first book in the Season’s of Magic series by Sarah Biglow. This is an action-packed urban fantasy, interwoven with a crime drama, mystery, suspense, magic, witches, prophecy, sinister forces, and a pending apocalypse. The fate of the world hangs in the balance and it is a bit of a race against time to unravel everything, whilst also embracing a destiny that was foretold in a prophecy centuries ago.
Ezri Trenton is the subject of that prophecy- and as the last remaining descendant in a long line of witches, the responsibility falls on her to save the day. But, Ezri is haunted by the murder of her mother ten years earlier. She left the magical community, feeling betrayed by their lack of action after her mother’s death. So, she decided to hunt down the killer herself, and has since joined the police force a stepping stone in that direction. She loves her job and takes it seriously. But hiding her ‘abilities’ is going to become a little more difficult, especially when there’s a phantom serial killer to track down. Keeping her magical abilities on the down-low just got a whole lot more difficult. How will Ezri juggle the advancing prophecy, saving the day, as well as hunting down a serial killer with paranormal abilities? Well, this book is well worth the read to discover just how everything plays out!
Looking forward to more in the ‘Seasons of Magic’ series!
Thank you, Sarah Biglow!
